Visiting Croatia has been a dream of mine ever since I watched Game of Thrones. I still remember being mesmerized by the stunning beaches, ancient castles, and the breathtaking locations featured in the series—especially after watching the behind-the-scenes footage. I used to think, *”One day, I hope I’ll get to see that in person.”
I’ve always loved traveling to Europe because of its deep history that stretches back to ancient times. For me, travel isn’t just about ticking off tourist spots—it’s about connecting with the culture, learning the history, and meeting the people.
My first impression of Croatia was how stunning the beaches were—everywhere you look, there’s the crystal-clear Adriatic Sea. In some ways, it reminded me of Greece: the sparkling water, the laid-back vibe, and the coastal charm. The weather was perfect, the scenery was breathtaking, and the people were incredibly warm and friendly.
We stayed for 3 nights and 4 days, and it was the perfect little escape. On our first day, we spent time at a beach just a minute’s walk from our villa. The water was unbelievably clear—you could see straight to the bottom—and the whole beachfront was lined with local coffee shops, charming little stores, and restaurants full of character. We found out that it was Croatia’s Independence Day, so the locals had the day off and the beach was a bit more crowded than usual. But honestly, that just added to the atmosphere. Everyone was out enjoying life, and we had an amazing day soaking it all in.
On our second day, we finally visited the iconic Old Town of Dubrovnik—famously known as one of the main filming locations for Game of Thrones. As soon as I arrived, I felt like I had stepped straight into the show. The stone streets, massive city walls, and dramatic views overlooking the sea made it feel like I was on a quest… maybe even looking for dragons! We walked the entire city wall, and every corner offered a new breathtaking view.
There were plenty of boutique shops and cozy restaurants tucked into the old stone buildings, but my favorite place by far was Nautika. It wasn’t just the delicious food that made it memorable—it was the setting. The view from the terrace overlooked both the sea and the ancient castle walls. It felt surreal, like dining in the middle of a fairytale.
This summer, I’m incredibly grateful that I finally had the chance to visit Croatia. It was everything I hoped for and more.
