I just got back from 10 days vacation in Cancun to celebrate my birthday. My husband has been keeping tradition to take me to paradise yearly for this special occasion. I am so grateful.
One thing I love about Mexico is its hospitality and food and Cancun has never disappointed. I have been here numerous times but I always discover great restaurants when I am back.
I can safely say I am an expert traveler for Cancun’s destination. Below I will share all the great restaurants and activities you can enjoy.
Of course, as a Marriott member, we stayed at Marriott Cancun Resort. This location will not be close to downtown but we love it. There are many reasons why we love to stay here. It’s walking distance to all the good restaurants in town, save money on taxis. The hotel is absolutely beautiful. The only downside is they don’t offer inclusive but we never like buffet anyway. We love to dine out to discover the great food Cancun has to offer.
We chose to celebrate my birthday at Funky Geisha, Harry’s Prime Steakhouse, RosaNegra, and Fred’s. These are the top restaurants I would recommend if you are the first time coming here. Each of them is very unique and providing the best dining experiences.
For Funky Geisha, it’s more Asian Fusion style. I really love the entrance coming to the restaurant. It feels like you are walking inside the nest of the jungle.
Harry’s Prime is most romantic for couples. I recommend you make a reservation for outdoor dining and around the sunset time. Trust me the view is worth it. They specialize in steak. They have all kinds of styles you can think of.
RosaNegra is a Latin American restaurant. It’s such fun vibes. It has a very unique restaurant and amazing raw seafood. You come here with your girls to have great times. It’s a perfect spot to have a bachelorette celebration too.
Fred is well known for their freshwater lobster. It must try when you are here.
These restaurants also provide different live entertainments for you to enjoy. Also, they all have the best water lagoon view, so try to make a reservation for outdoor dining. The good thing about these spots is next to each other.
Whenever I am back in Cancun, I always spend few days enjoying outdoor activities. We always do Xcaret and Xplor and Xelha. Each park is different, so it depends on your preference.
Xcaret is a perfect park for first-time visitors. All ages will enjoy their time here. You will see different exotic animals such as flamingos, parrots, butterflies, etc. Endless water activities you can enjoy here. We were swimming with the dolphins, snorkeling. In the end, you can watch xpectular show where you will learn a piece of history.
Xplor is a place for adventure. They have one of the highest ziplines in Mexico. You can swim in the cave, off-road trucks. The park design around the cave. So you must wear a helmet at all times.
Xelha is all about water activities. If you love snorkeling, this is a place to be. We see a lot of beautiful tropical fish.
These parks provide transportation that picks up and drops off from your hotel. They also provide a free buffet and unlimited juices inside.
I recommend you book your activities inside the hotel to avoid scams.
