We welcomed 2022 with a trip to Fiji. Actually, we were looking to go to Greece on New Year but due to the omicron, we decided to get to Fiji instead.

I researched and was aware of January which is the wettest season in Fiji, which means we would run into hurricanes but we took our chances and I was glad we did.

As you know, any tropical destinations have a lot of islands and I had to make sure we pick the right spot and at least amount of rain.

Fiji recently reopened for tourists on December 16th, 2021. It was really hard for me to look for airfares and accommodations. We searched on Costco and had no luck. I came across a reel on Instagram about Koro Sun Resort in Savusavu and lucky for us they had slots open for the week after the new year.

We flew out from San Francisco Airport. It was a nonstop 11 hours flight with Fiji Airways. The airplane is pretty big and spacious. I slept pretty much the whole time since we departed at night and arrive in the morning.

Most of the arrival to Fiji will be at Nadi International airport. This is the main island of Fiji also the biggest. You need to make sure you also book a connecting flight from Nadi to your resort destination.

We took one hour flight from Nadi to Savusavu on a small plane from Fiji Airways.

We finally arrived at Koro Sun. It was a warm welcoming. We got greeted by the workers. Our resort was a decent size. My first impression was this place looked like we are in the rainforest. It’s so lush. I immediately felt like I am on a remote island.

We had the best room overlooking the ocean which is the Edgewater Bure. This place felt like a family to me. Everyone here is so nice and extremely friendly.

The few couple days the weather was perfect but the rest of the week was heavy raining but we didn’t mind, we expected anyways.

The first thing we booked was the Rainforest massage. It was one of the best massages I got. They took you to the forest and you have to do a little hike to the waterfall and this is where we got our couple massage. It was so relaxing that I wanted to do it again the next day.

The next day, we took a tour of the town, experienced the local markets. Then we went to the main waterfall (called Vuadomo) and its own by the villages. We had to get permission from the chief to enter.

The following day, they took us to a small island in the middle ocean where we got to swim in the cave and saw many cool fishes.

We also met the owner of Koro Sun. He is very friendly as well. He has another resort back in Colorado. We got invited to his mansion and had cocktails.

Overall, we had the best trip and met a lot of nice and friendly people including other travelers.

Here are so photos for you to enjoy.
